Dana Netherton began her 33rd year in education during the 2026–2027 school year. She spent seven years teaching in Fort Smith, Arkansas, before moving to Louisville in 2001. Throughout her career, she has taught both Kindergarten and 1st grade, including four years in a combined 1st/2nd grade classroom.

Dana comes from a strong Lutheran church-work family. Her father served as both a teacher and Director of Christian Education, and her mother was a teacher and music director. With 10 additional Lutheran church workers in her extended family, Dana proudly became a third-generation Lutheran educator.

Her greatest passions are teaching reading, art, and, most importantly, sharing the love of Jesus with her students. Over the years, she has also been involved in music ministry, youth ministry, women’s ministry, Christ Care groups, yearbook, library, and Bible study.

Outside of school, Dana enjoys playing the flute, singing, sewing, painting, reading, and photography. She is married to Doug Netherton, and they have two children, Emily and Michael, both alumni of Our Savior Lutheran School.

Dana earned her B.S. in Education from Concordia University, Seward in 1994 and her M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, Seward in 2007.
